Past IKF Champions

-ALL Champions are listed in Alphabetical Order-

-A-
  • Dennis “Kaheke” Alexio
    Molokai, Hawaii, USA 70-
    *2/65, Pro Boxing: 5-1/3, 5’11″, 215-225, 3-12-59, Self

    • IKF Pro Full Contact Rules Heavyweight World Champion.
      • Alexio won his IKF title when he defeated Barrington Patterson of London, England by TKO at the end of the 5th round In Hawaii, USA on May 31st, 1997.
      • First Defense: May, 1998, Sacramento, California, USA: Defeated Achille Roger of France by TKO in 5th round.
      • Alexio’s World Title was retired by the IKF on November 24th, 2003. The reason was because the IKF Organization had been trying to contact Mr. Alexio since June of 2003, to discuss what his future plans for the sport were, such as a title defense, or a retirement of his title. However we never received any return phone call.
      • Mr. Alexio has had a “BRILLIANT” career and will be remembered as THE BEST Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight FCR fighter in the world for years to come. We wish him the best in his future.
        • (*) Dennis Alexio: The reason for the * by Alexio’s record is because of the questions raised about his second loss. (First to Don Wilson) A loss to Stan Longinidis in Australia in a “Leg Kick” rules bout. In the bout, Longinidis won on a first round TKO after Alexio’s leg was broken (spiral fracture) following a leg kick from Longinidis. Later, Alexio claimed he broke it when he stepped in a hole in the ring padding just after the kick. Longinidis’ camp and many others said it was broke when Alexio checked one of Longinidis’ kicks and when he stepped back and put weight on it, the leg obviously gave way. The bout was sanctioned by the ISKA and the WKA. The ISKA Australia and the WKA kept the fight as a win for Longinidis while ISKA USA reversed the decision to a no contest to avoid giving Alexio a loss. Since the bout, many have given their thoughts about how Alexio’s leg broke. Some for, some against. Since we were not there, we felt it best to explain what we do know about it. Since medical experts we have spoken to have said a spiral fracture could not happen just from twisting a leg on a mat, we must recognize the fact that it could have been broken as explained above from the kick. After the bout, Alexio’s corner said on TV: “Stan won tonight with an excellent kick, but Dennis is a warrior, as is Stan, and will be back”. (Bob Wall and Nasser Niavaroni). Regardless, 1 more loss does not change who Alexio is or who Longinidis is. Both are great fighters. It’s just too bad there wasn’t any $$ left after this bout to make a rematch so we all could have had any questions answered… View this bout for yourself by CLICKING HERE Here are some more video clips of Alexio Dennis Alexio vs. Branko Cikatic or Dennis Alexio vs. Mark Russell

  • Vladimir Avtamonov

      • Avtamonov was scheduled to defend his title on October 26th, 2002, in Butler, Pennsylvania, USA against Jimmy Stewart. However his trainer Oleg Vadaturskiy never even attempted to attain the proper Visa’s (as agreed with him and the promoter) to come to America. Instead of informing the IKF or Stewart’s promoters of this, he simply stopped responding to any e-mails 3 weeks prior to the fight date. To the best of our knowledge, although Avtamonov may have wanted to fight, his trainer had no desire to travel to the USA for the fight. This left the IKF no choice but to retire the title from Avtamonov in December of 2002 since his trainer had no plans of him meeting the challenge.

        • Roufus Voluntarily vacated his Super Heavyweight Title to move DOWN to the Heavyweight Muay Thai Division. He later retired.
        • However, at the end of October, 2000, Roufus announced he would come out of retirement to fight in the K-1 USA. He lost his second round bout in the May, 2001 K-1 USA and his opening round bout in the August K-1 USA.
        • On December 11th, 2002 Roufus made his retirement official due to his busy schedule with promoting his own events and other work. His final fight record was 36-8-1/26 and in pro boxing he was 2-0/1.
        • Surprise again… On June 3rd, 2005 Roufus came back to the ring to fight one more time defeating Sinisa “Thunderman” Andrijasevic of Split, Croatia by unanimous decision, 48-47, 50-45 and 49-46. Aftert this bout he has said he is truly retired… But we will see…

  • Rick “The Jet” Roufus
    Atlanta, Georgia, USA, Self

    • IKF Pro Full Contact Rules Light Heavyweight World Champion.
      • Roufus became the second IKF Mens PRO CHAMPION and the second IKF Mens Pro World Champion when he defeated Michael McDonald of Vancouver, BC, Canada, by “KO” at :43 seconds of round 1. The bout was at Caesars Tahoe Casino in Tahoe, NV, USA on January 22nd, 1994. For a Video Clip of this bout CLICK HERE
      • Rofus’ Title was later Transferred to the IKF World Heavyweight International Rules Title. See below for explanation Roufus is still fighting in both Boxing and Kickboxing.
        • Transfer: In 1998, having NEVER been challenged for his title he won in 1992, Roufus made 2 career changing decisions. 1, He moved up in weight class and 2, he “SWITCHED” to Leg Kick / International Rules since he decided he no longer wanted to do Full Contact, above the waist Rules. According to IKF (*) Rules, If an IKF Champion is “NEVER” challenged at the title weight and rules division they have won their title at, for a minimum of 3 years, the champion may move their “TITLE” to a different weight class to seek challenges. This is ONLY possible “IF” the title the champion holds is VACANT and has NEVER been held by ANYONE in the weight class the Champion desires to move to. In addition, if the same desired title is vacant and HAS NEVER been held by ANYONE in a Different Rules Division, and the champion has decided to make a fighting style change, he/she may ALSO change their title to that different Rules Division, again, IF they have NEVER been challenged at the winning weight and division for a minimum of 3 years and AGAIN, the title they are moving to has NEVER been held by Anyone.
        • Roufus did both of these things in 1998. The stipulations though are that the fighter must defend the title within 12 months after being transferred, against an opponent selected by the IKF. If the Champion Does Not defend the new title, they will be switched back to their original title winning position.
        • (*) This Ruling was created for 2 reasons, 1, to help create new IKF champions in different rule divisions and 2, to keep IKF Champions busy rather than stay idle after winning a title. Some fighters, like Roufus, just don’t get challenged due to their requested purse, ability etc. Because of this, the title they won may sit unchallenged. By allowing movement, it opens up positions for new champions and as long as the title holder defends their new title, we see NO PROBLEM with this rule.

  • Rick “The Jet” Roufus

Roufus was ahead on all 3 judges cards at the time, 89-81, 86-83 and 88-81. The bout was in Lowell Massachusetts, USA
      • On September 29th, 2003 Roufus Officially announced his retirement to the IKF. In his last event, he tore his ACL (Knee). Although he had come back from knee injuries in the past, this time he felt he could not recover from the severity of the injury this time.
      • As we all know, Rick Roufus was and still is one of the most recognized names in our sport. He has proven himself as a Champion to everyone who follows in his footsteps. He was a true leader in his career and has set the standard for what it takes to be a true WORLD Champion. We will miss his excitement and star power for years to come.” IKF President Steve Fossum.
      • Since his announced retirement, roufus has come back and fought “Many” times. His latest quest is in the Mixed Martial Arts Cage.

      • Wednesday, October 6th, 2004: Jimmy Stewart has done MORE to Promote a World Title Challenge than ANY OTHER FIGHTER. In doing so he has had “SIX”, yes, “SIX” fighters pull out on him between October 2002 and October 2004. The last one was the last draw for us here at the IKF. Jim Tisdale is the trainer of Eric Marshall of Florida. Marshall was scheduled to meet Stewart for an October 9th showdown for the vacant title. However, on Monday, October 4th, (5 days before their World Title Bout) Tisdale called the IKF and informed us Marshall hurt his back sparring over the weekend and is forced to pull out of the bout. Marshall was the 6th failed opponent for Stewart and marks the LAST DRAW for us. stewart DESERVES this Title simply because he challenged ONLY THE BEST for it. However, NONE of them were able to meet him in the ring and “Walk The Walk” for it. Now that he has it, Stewart as well as us here at the IKF can tell all Challengers or those questioning Stewarts ability, “Bring It ON!”
      • Stewart called to reture his title on December 10th, 2008. The reason was a due to a career ending accident. Stewart was struck by a car while crossing the street.
